Premier Inn Matlock

Bakewell Rd, Matlock DE4 3AZ, UK – 0871 527 9612

The staff are warm and friendly. Helpful. Our room was spotless. Comfortable and we had everything we needed. Omar was a true gentleman and helped me sort an issue I had. Also Holly at BUXTON where I had tried to book was so kind friendly professional and went the extra mile to help. Great customer service. Central reservations however need to answer the phone when customers call. Thank you Holly and thank you Omar. X

Brand spanking new. Very well thought out rooms & absolutely spotless. Breakfast brilliant. Staff very friendly & nothing is too mu h trouble. Staying for 3 nights doing touristy stuff in the Peak District, not too far to drive to Dovedale, Bakewell etc. Will definately stay again.

New Bath Hotel and Spa

New Bath Rd, Matlock Dale, Matlock DE4 3PX, UK – 01629 340340

My best friend and I used the spa facilities here today. We had a treatment and the staff were lovely. We felt really relaxed and rejuvenated. The outdoor area was clean and tidy although smaller than we had expected so we would say it was only suitable for couples/small groups. Despite this we could not fault the service and will definitely be returning.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were the most friendly and helpful we’ve had at any hotel. The room was comfortable and well presented. The food is excellent. And the spa is relaxing with the best treatments I’ve experienced. We will definitely return.

Duke Of Wellington

115 Wellington St, Matlock DE4 3GX, UK – 01629 582299

Called in for Sunday lunch late they serve from 12-6pm on a Sunday. Good choice of meats very reasonably priced we were even able to get a mixed meat roast. They had a beer festival on also so beer was welcomed at a good price. Staff were helpful and obliging, bar area can be a little noisy but we found a quiet spot as we needed to discuss things.

Dog friendly nice staff good food good price very nice

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Thorn Tree Inn

48 Jackson Rd, Matlock DE4 3JQ, UK – 01629 580295

The best pub in the world. Friendly staff, great ales and incredible food. Small classic themed pub, popular with locals and tourists alike. Beer garden at the front of the pub has possibly the best views of any pub in Derbyshire. Always a great selection of well kept ales, with new guest ales appearing every few days. Food is incredible. You won't eat anything better, the portions are huge and the prices are unbelievably reasonable. Can't recommend the soup highly enough. Wednesday night is Pat's home made pie night, but turn up early to avoid disappointment.

Big portions, good price and really nice food! Need to check the times though as they stop serving pies at 7 or something? Also had a wedding on one time so maybe ring beforehand.

Duke William

Starkholmes, Matlock DE4 3BZ, UK – 01629 582585

Good food and service will be going again

A facebook post reminded me of my trip to Matlock and visiting this place. After walking in, we were initially a bit reticent as it seemed much more 'local' than most gastropubs we've been too. I'm glad we weren't put off, as the staff were excellent. The best Carvery I've ever eaten was at this place - so much so, that nearly two years later I'm writing a review about it. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Three Stags

Main Road, Matlock, Darley Bridge DE4 2JY, UK – 01629 356457

Nice local pub, friendly people and very clean and tidy place. Big seating area outside and plenty of beverage to choose from. Local ales normal largers and spirits. Big car park at rear of the pub for plenty to park. They do food here but unfortunately we didn't have anything as they don't do food on a Monday or Tuesday. Dog friendly place.

Great food great beer great music and great people

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Had a brilliant weekend fir my sister 40th. There were 10 girls with plenty of room and space. Hot tub was to die for and games room. Definately worth booking.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Packhorse Farm

Foxholes Lane, Matlock, Derbyshire DE4 5LF, UK – 01629 580950

Stayed at the pack horse with the family 11year old and a 2year old we thoroughly enjoyed it very clean facilities freezer for your Ice packs and also wooden picnic benches provided which was good. The walks are beautiful bit out in the sticks but nice walks we would definitely return the only down side is their was no park for the children but definitely recommend this camp site. ☺

Excellent campsite. Everything you need is right here, owners very friendly and helpful, if you dont mind a walk you're within walking distance of plenty of local attractions, if not it is only a short car ride. Facilities are always spotless, prettt much faultless, myself and my family will be back, i am also recommending it to my other family members. Superb site. Up there with the best I've been to, and i have visited a LOT of campsites over the past 15 years.

The Duke William Matlock

91 Church St, Matlock DE4 3BZ, UK – 01629 583111

Had a great time here, again. 2nd visit camping. Lovely area. Left alone to do what we want. Top quality food, especially the Carvery. All seemed very fresh and lean meat. The staff bend over backwards to keep you happy, I wanted some background 80's music while eating. Out came Alexa to the rescue, I will be going back here again and would recommend to others. Pub has good choice of beers and a decent dart board for those who play. I do hope they get electric hookup sorted and give the place a lick a paint, i'd happily pay 2 maybe 3 times more. 2 things to note. its a hilly area so high heels not best footwear for the ladies. And be careful on way in, the driveway is a bit steep and you can see where other cars have been caught out. If your coming up the hill, It might be best to drive past the pub and turn around to get best line up especially if you've got a low/ heavy car. Thanks for a wonderful time again to the staff and hope to see you again, very soon. Mick n Neil and the 2 ladies from Doncaster. xxx

Me my Partner and Son enjoyed the music. Nice friendly staff. Very friendly to my Son that is only 4 months and 3 weeks old, so very family friendly.
